History of Mala Beads:
The history of mala beads is somewhat murky, but they are believed to have originated in India around the 8th century BCE, most likely made from Rudraksha or Lotus seeds. They were originally used by Hindu sadhus, or holy men, to help them focus their minds during meditation, by thumbing the beads between their fingers as they focused on the inhale and exhale, or a round of chanting a traditional mantra. Over time, the use of mala beads spread to other religions, but are still used purpossefully by spiritual seekers to help connect the wearer to the divine.
How to use your Mala:
Place it in your dominant hand, and use your fingers and thumb to count the beads, while chanting a mantra or affirmation, so the eyes can remain internally focused on Ajna chakra (the third eye), aiding in intuition, connection with source/spirit, and deep self intrigue (among other things). It is also common for people to wear these as necklaces to subconsciously focus on what they are trying to manifest withen their lives (e.g. peace, clarity, wealth, confidence etc.) often by aligning a crystal that holds the vibration of this intention.
Rudrashka Benefits:
Any depiction of great sages or 'Rishis's' in Hinduism is not complete without rudraksha beads strung around their necks and hands. Considered to be one of the most auspicious manifestations in the Hindu culture, the rudraksha bead serves as a holy connection to Lord Shiva. The Rudraksha tree is unlike any other in its abundance of spiritual myths and stories and Scriptural allusions. Its beads have been highly sought, for centuries due to their curative and enchanted abilities, which make this a very special mala for spiritual seekers, allowing them to come back to their humble beginnings. Rudraksha, also known as Elaeocarpus Ganitrus, gets its name from the Sanskrit terms for Shiva (Rudra) and eyes (aksha). The spiritual and healing significance of these herbal beads is extensively discussed in ancient spiritual books like the Shiv Purana and the Devi Bhagwatam.
Healing occurs on all levels of a person's being when using Rudraksha beads, as it connects one to the home of yoga, and ancient spiritual teachings of India. This is a great selection for those of you that want something physical to align you with your 21 days of self-healing practise as a new reiki initiate or practitioner. Wearing it will help you remember the intention that you set when becoming attuned to Reiki energy, and the heart felt reason your soul has chosen this path with humble strength and devotion.
Cleanse & Set Your Intention:
Your mala necklace has been personally cleansed with reiki energy, before being cleared under the light of a full moon, and endured a lengthy riverside stay next to the holy Ganges river in Rishikesh India. This is a very special piece, and to ensure it does what you really want it too, I suggest cleansing it with Palo Santo or White Sage (please see links or visit shop) and then sitting with it to feel into its energy, and how you want it to work for you!
