History of Mala Beads:
The history of mala beads is somewhat murky, but they are believed to have originated in India around the 8th century BCE, most likely made from Rudraksha or Lotus seeds. They were originally used by Hindu sadhus, or holy men, to help them focus their minds during meditation, by thumbing the beads between their fingers as they focused on the inhale and exhale, or a round of chanting a traditional mantra. Over time, the use of mala beads spread to other religions, but are still used purpossefully by spiritual seekers to help connect the wearer to the divine.
How to use your Mala:
Place it in your dominant hand, and use your fingers and thumb to count the beads, while chanting a mantra or affirmation, so the eyes can remain internally focused on Ajna chakra (the third eye), aiding in intuition, connection with source/spirit, and deep self intrigue (among other things). It is also common for people to wear these as necklaces to subconsciously focus on what they are trying to manifest withen their lives (e.g. peace, clarity, wealth, confidence etc.) often by aligning a crystal that holds the vibration of this intention.
Lapis Lazuli Benefits:
This stone has naturally occuring flecks of Calcite, Pyrite, and Sodalite within it, creating a blended colour of blues, white, grey, and 'fools gold', also bringing in metaphysical properties of these crystals. This mala also holds a more dense weight to it, due to heaviness of the mineral deposits within. This mineral has some of the oldest societal uses tracing back to the Mesopotamians where it was traded between the Egyptians. Numerous historical relics have been created from this stone such as the Pillars in Saint Petersburg Cathedral, King Tutankhamen’s Sarcophagus, and the eyeshadow of Cleopatra. Lapis Lazuli taps into the powers of Isis, the Egyptian Goddess of healing, marriage, motherhood and magic; Vishnu, the Hindu God of protection; Nuit, the Egyptian Goddess of Night; Odin, the Norse God of War; the Cosmic Buddha, Vairocana; and the Japanese God of Thunder, Raijin.
Naturally aligned to the throat chakra, Lapiz Lazuli is a great stone to meditate with when you are wanting to activate the gifts of your communication chakra (vissuda, the throat), and clearvision chakra, ajna (the third eye). Lapis Lazuli is a stone that emboldens the communicative abilities between the mind, throat, and heart, making it a wonderful stone to work with when you are trying to align with your souls purpose, and release the impurity of your egoic nature, coming back to the heart. One will shortly begin to find themselves radiating the truth of their emotional body. Lapis Lazuli’s energies promote heightened intellect, inner visions, and an expanded mental capacity.
Throughout the ages, Lapis Lazuli has been viewed as a stone of royalty between powerful kings, queens, dukes, and pharaohs. Our belief in the popularity of this stone was due to its untapped power. These individuals were secretly aware of the powerful effect Lapis Lazuli could have on the brain. Through deep meditation, they were able to understand their thoughts and sculpt their actions based on the knowledge that Lapis Lazuli provided them. Lazurite, the main mineral component of Lapis Lazuli is a high vibrational stone. It opens up our third eye, promoting ascension, higher knowledge, and truth-seeking. These attributes combined with other mineral impurities (such as Pyrite, Calcite, and Sodalite) are all capable of reigniting different traits of who we are. For example, Pyrite inclusions in Lazurite assist in both processing your thoughts and manifesting them into reality. The Calcite variations will help awaken the mystical energies that lay dormant inside of you. Lastly, Sodalite will bolden your mental insight to provide a true understanding of how your thoughts are connected to your emotional body. Ideas are a powerful vibration that we emit and when we understand where they are coming from, we can begin to control them.
Pearl Benefits:
Pearl is popularly seen in white, cream, gray, yellow, gold, silver, and iridescent colors. So, they balance the Crown, Solar Plexus, Root, Lunar Star, Solar Star Chakras, and Stellar Gateway Chakras. These chakras help with fertility, enlightenment, wealth, protection, success, and spirituality. Did you know that Venus and the Moon govern the Pearl? They are responsible for reproductive healing, beauty, strength, calmness, and spirit contact. This astrological connection links Pearls to the Goddess Aphrodite, making them ideal for Gemini and Cancer zodiac signs, promoting balance, kindness, wealth, and love. The element of Water is activated with peace, letting go, renewal, and spiritual awakening. Hence, keeping Pearl in the Northwest and North areas fosters protection and divine guidance. The cultured variety of the organic gem also draws powers from deities like Boreas, the Greek Wind God; Krishna, the Hindu Love God; and Isis, the Egyptian Fertility Goddess. According to numerology, the numbers 7 and 3 are linked to Pearls, symbolizing spiritual awareness, success, luck, and joy.
Cleanse & Set Your Intention:
Your mala necklace has been personally cleansed with reiki energy, before being cleared under the light of a full moon, and endured a lengthy riverside stay next to the holy Ganges river in Rishikesh India. This is a very special piece, and to ensure it does what you really want it too, I suggest cleansing it with Palo Santo or White Sage (please see links or visit shop) and then sitting with it to feel into its energy, and how you want it to work for you!
